DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ore. — The Douglas County community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of 52-year-old Kenneth Shane Garrison of North Bend, whose life was tragically cut short in a single-vehicle crash early Monday morning, October 6, 2025.

According to the Oregon State Police (OSP), the accident occurred at approximately 5:27 a.m. along Highway 38 near milepost 49, just outside the city of Drain. Kenneth was driving his gold Buick Century eastbound when, for reasons still under investigation, the vehicle left the roadway, traveled down an embankment, and struck a tree before coming to rest. Despite the swift response from emergency crews, Kenneth was pronounced deceased at the scene.

While the investigation into the cause of the crash continues, what is certain is that the community has lost a kind, humble, and hardworking man whose presence left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.

Those who knew Kenneth Shane Garrison remember him not just as a name in a tragic headline, but as a devoted father, loyal friend, and dependable neighbor. Friends recall his easygoing nature, sense of humor, and the quiet warmth he brought to every gathering. Whether it was sharing stories over coffee, lending a hand to someone in need, or simply enjoying Oregon’s breathtaking outdoors, Kenneth lived each day with authenticity and compassion.

He took immense pride in his roots in North Bend, a town that shaped his strong work ethic and sense of community. Friends describe him as selfless and grounded — the type of person who would stop what he was doing to help others without hesitation. His gentle spirit and steady presence made him a source of comfort and reliability to those fortunate enough to know him.

The loss of Kenneth has left a deep void, not only in the hearts of his family but across the wider Douglas County community. In the days following his passing, loved ones have come together to share memories, support one another, and honor the man who gave so much of himself to those around him.

As words often fall short in moments of grief, those closest to him find solace in remembering the small moments — his laughter, his kindness, and the unspoken ways he showed love. Though his life ended far too soon, his memory will continue to shine brightly in the lives of those he touched.

As investigators work to piece together the events leading to the crash, the focus for family and friends remains on celebrating Kenneth’s life — one defined by sincerity, strength, and heart.

Rest in peace, Kenneth Shane Garrison.
