Alexandria Community Mourns the Loss of Juwuan Scott Following Deadly Shooting

ALEXANDRIA, La. — The city of Alexandria is grieving after a deadly shooting claimed the life of 30-year-old Juwuan Scott late Saturday night in the 2000 block of Kelly Street. The tragedy has left family, friends, and neighbors heartbroken, while police launch a full homicide investigation into the senseless act of violence.

According to the Alexandria Police Department, officers responded to multiple 911 calls about gunfire just before midnight. When they arrived, they found Scott suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Despite immediate lifesaving efforts by emergency medical personnel, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Loved ones describe Scott as a devoted son, brother, and friend, known for his loyalty, humor, and the warmth he shared with those closest to him. “Juwuan had a good heart. He didn’t deserve this,” one grieving family member said. “He was just trying to live his life and take care of his family.”

The Alexandria Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit is actively investigating, canvassing the neighborhood and interviewing witnesses. While no suspects have been identified and no arrests announced, investigators are urging residents to share any information that may help bring justice to Scott’s family.

The loss has reignited concern about rising gun violence in Alexandria, with community advocates calling for unity and solutions. “Juwuan was a son, a friend, a neighbor — someone who mattered. We can’t keep losing our young men to senseless violence,” one local leader said.

In the coming days, a candlelight vigil is planned at the site of the shooting to honor Scott’s life and legacy. Friends and family hope the gathering will serve both as a tribute to his memory and a plea for peace.

The Alexandria community now mourns a life of love and potential cut tragically short.

Rest in Peace, Juwuan Scott (1995–2025). Gone too soon, but forever remembered.
