Versailles, Ohio Mourns Xavier Miller, 20, Killed in Late-Night Snowmobile Crash

Cleveland Community Mourns Loss of Beloved Restaurateur Michael Paul Sokolowski at 65

The Versailles community is grieving the tragic loss of Xavier Miller, a 20-year-old whose life was cut short following a devastating snowmobile accident late Thursday night in Darke County.

According to authorities, Miller was riding south through a snowy field near Brown Road and Shaffer Road just before midnight when his snowmobile struck an embankment. The impact sent him airborne, and he was ejected after colliding with a highway guardrail. First responders from the Darke County Sheriff’s Office, Ansonia Rescue, and the Versailles Fire Department arrived to find Miller critically injured on the roadway and immediately began life-saving efforts.

Miller was stabilized at the scene and airlifted by CareFlight helicopter to Miami Valley Hospital. Despite the rapid response and intensive medical care, he succumbed to his injuries early Friday morning. He was pronounced dead hours after the crash, leaving family, friends, and an entire town in shock.

Investigators say Miller was operating a 2003 Ski-Doo MXZ at the time of the accident. While the investigation remains ongoing, officials confirmed that after striking the embankment, the snowmobile continued into the guardrail, and Miller was thrown from the machine. What began as a routine winter ride ended in a heartbreaking loss within moments.

Friends describe Xavier as a young man full of energy and laughter—someone who brought life into every room and made people feel seen simply by being present. In the wake of his death, those who knew him are holding tightly to everyday memories that now feel painfully precious.

As Versailles mourns, an outpouring of condolences has surrounded Miller’s family, who are facing an unimaginable loss. The community continues to rally around them, united in grief and remembrance of a life gone far too soon.

Xavier Miller’s death serves as a sobering reminder of how quickly life can change. He will be remembered for his spirit, his warmth, and the lasting impression he left on those who loved him.
