Russellville, AR — The Arkansas State Police are seeking the public’s help following a tragic hit-and-run that claimed the life of 82-year-old George Sanborn of Russellville. The incident occurred on State Highway 326 in the Happy Valley community, near Gum Log in Pope County, between 6:30 and 6:45 p.m. on Saturday, November 15, 2025.
Authorities report that Mr. Sanborn was struck by a vehicle believed to be a Chevrolet HHR. The vehicle may have sustained damage to the driver’s side, though the color and model year remain unknown. Troopers are urging anyone with information about the vehicle or the incident to contact ASP Troop J at (479) 754-3096.
Sanborn, a long-time resident of Russellville, was beloved by family, friends, and neighbors for his kindness, community spirit, and warmth. His sudden and tragic death has left a profound void in the lives of those who knew him.
