Tragic Loss in Nanakuli: 19-Year-Old Tehya Mahelona Identified as Victim in Fatal Multi-Vehicle Crash


Heartbreak has swept through the Waianae community following the devastating news that 19-year-old Tehya Mahelona has been identified as the victim of a multi-vehicle crash that occurred early Tuesday morning in Nanakuli. The sudden loss of the young woman has left family, friends, and neighbors mourning the passing of a life filled with promise and light.
According to the Honolulu Police Department, the collision happened just after 2:30 a.m. along Farrington Highway, when multiple vehicles were involved in a crash that resulted in severe damage and road closures for several hours. Emergency responders pronounced Tehya Mahelona dead at the scene despite efforts to save her. Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash, including whether speed or impairment were factors.
Tehya, described by loved ones as a “beautiful soul with an even more beautiful heart,” was a proud member of the Waianae community. Friends say she had a joyful spirit, a contagious smile, and dreams of building a bright future for herself and her family.
