Chicago Rap Community Mourns the Death of THF Zoo in Shooting


Chicago, IL — The city’s hip-hop community is reeling after the tragic death of Devonshe Collier, known professionally as THF Zoo or THF Bayzoo, who was fatally shot on Saturday, October 25, 2025, in the Little Village neighborhood. Collier, 35, was pronounced dead following a violent shooting that occurred around 3 p.m. in a parking lot on the 3100 block of South St. Louis Avenue.
According to authorities, Collier was standing with two other men when an armed suspect approached in a vehicle and opened fire, striking all three. Collier sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was rushed to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition before succumbing to his injuries. The two other victims, aged 39 and 42, were treated for their injuries and are reported to be in fair condition.
Collier, a prominent figure in Chicago’s drill music scene and an affiliate of Lil Durk’s Only The Family (OTF) collective, was celebrated for his authentic storytelling, street influence, and loyalty to his peers. Tributes poured in from fans and fellow artists, including OTF members, who remembered him for his impact on the music community and his role as a father and friend.
“THF Zoo’s death is a devastating loss,” said a fellow OTF member online. “His music, his energy, and his presence will never be forgotten.”
Chicago Police have not announced any arrests, and the motive for the shooting remains under investigation. Authorities are reviewing surveillance footage and urging anyone with information to come forward.
Collier’s passing is yet another reminder of the toll gun violence continues to take on the city’s music scene. Fans and colleagues are calling for peace and reflecting on the enduring legacy he leaves through his music. Funeral and memorial details have not yet been released.
