Leesville Community Mourns the Loss of 17-Year-Old George Hall Gomez Jr


LEESVILLE, S.C. — Heartbreak has struck the Leesville and Lexington County communities as residents mourn the tragic loss of 17-year-old George Hall Gomez Jr., who died early Sunday morning following a single-vehicle accident on Jim Spence Road.
According to Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher, the crash occurred around 5:25 a.m. on October 26, 2025, when Mr. Gomez was traveling southbound in the 1600 block of Jim Spence Road. His vehicle left the right side of the roadway and struck a tree. Emergency responders arrived quickly and transported him to a nearby hospital, but despite their efforts, he was pronounced dead from injuries sustained in the crash.
Coroner Fisher confirmed that Mr. Gomez was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the accident.
The news of George’s passing has left classmates, teachers, friends, and neighbors in deep mourning. Known for his bright smile, kind heart, and infectious energy, George was described as a young man full of potential — someone who loved his family, his friends, and his community deeply.
“George was the kind of person who could make anyone laugh, no matter what kind of day you were having,” said one friend. “He had big dreams, and it hurts knowing he won’t get the chance to chase them.”
As the community gathers to grieve, schools and local organizations are offering counseling and support for those affected by the tragedy. Family members have requested privacy as they navigate this unimaginable loss.
