MONROE COUNTY, Ind. — Authorities are investigating a devastating wrong-way crash that occurred early Saturday morning, October 25, 2025, on Interstate 69, just north of Bloomington. The collision claimed the life of 33-year-old Johnathon Clark of Nashville, Indiana, and left another individual seriously injured.
According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, emergency crews responded to reports of a head-on collision in the northbound lanes of I-69 shortly after 2 a.m. Preliminary reports indicate that one of the vehicles was traveling in the wrong direction when it collided with another car.
When first responders arrived, they found extensive damage to both vehicles. Johnathon Clark was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the second vehicle was transported to a nearby hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Authorities have not yet determined what caused the wrong-way vehicle to enter the northbound lanes, and the investigation remains ongoing. Toxicology results are pending, as is standard procedure in fatal crashes.
Friends and family of Johnathon Clark are now mourning the sudden loss of a man remembered for his kindness, sense of humor, and the love he showed to those around him. “He was the kind of person who’d give you the shirt off his back,” one friend shared. “It doesn’t feel real that he’s gone.”
