The community mourns the loss of Reverend Dr. Tommy Vinson Whatley—affectionately known as Bro. Tom or simply B.T.—who peacefully went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at the age of 85.
A cherished spiritual leader and friend, Bro. Tom touched countless lives with his faith, kindness, and unwavering dedication to his congregation and community. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Sunday, November 2, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Woodward Avenue Baptist Church. A service to honor and celebrate his life will follow, bringing together those who loved him to remember his enduring legacy.
