Premier University Mourns the Passing of CSE Chairman Syed Mohammad Minhaj Hossain

CHATTOGRAM, October 19, 2025 — Premier University is in mourning following the sudden and untimely passing of Syed Mohammad Minhaj Hossain, esteemed Chairman of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE). He passed away at 9:15 a.m. on Sunday at Chattogram Medical College Hospital. He was approximately 40 years old.

The news of his death has cast a profound sense of grief across the university community. Known for his dedication, leadership, and commitment to academic excellence, Mr. Hossain was widely respected by colleagues and deeply loved by his students.

The Honorable Vice Chancellor of Premier University, Professor S. M. Nasrul Quadir, expressed his heartfelt condolences, describing Mr. Hossain’s passing as an “irreparable loss to the academic family.”

“The university community has lost an exceptional teacher, visionary academic, and compassionate human being,” the Vice Chancellor said. “His contributions to the Department of Computer Science and Engineering will be remembered for years to come.”

Expressions of sorrow and sympathy also poured in from across the institution. Among those offering their condolences were Professor Dr. Mohit Ul Alam, Dean of the Faculty of Arts; Professor Md. Morshed Mahmud Khan, Adjunct Dean of the Faculty of Law; Professor M. Moinul Haque, Associate Dean of the Faculty of Business Studies; Professor Dr. Shaheed Md. Asif Iqbal, Associate Dean of the Faculty of Engineering; and Mr. Mohammad Iftekhar Monir, Registrar and Assistant Dean of the Faculty of Science.

Faculty members, staff, and students alike have joined in prayer and remembrance, mourning the loss of a man whose guidance and kindness left a lasting mark on all who knew him.
