Hoover, AL (October 17, 2025) – The Hoover community is grieving the sudden and heartbreaking loss of Stephanie Colclough, a beloved teacher at Brock’s Gap Intermediate School, whose unexpected passing has left students, colleagues, and families reeling with sadness.
Known for her creativity, warmth, and unwavering dedication to her students, Colclough was more than an educator — she was a mentor, role model, and friend. Her classroom was a place where every child felt valued and encouraged to reach their fullest potential.
“Mrs. Colclough had a gift for making learning come alive,” said fellow teacher Angela Pierce. “She believed in every student who walked through her door and always found a way to bring out their best.”
Parents and students describe her as a guiding light, someone who not only taught lessons in the classroom but also modeled kindness, patience, and empathy. Her infectious enthusiasm for teaching inspired both young learners and her peers.
Outside of school, Stephanie was known for her love of family, her joyful spirit, and her willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Friends say she carried a smile that could brighten even the hardest of days.
“Stephanie touched so many lives with her compassion,” said neighbor Mark Davidson. “Her absence leaves a hole in this community that can never truly be filled.”
Counselors have been made available at Brock’s Gap Intermediate to support students and staff as they process the loss. Plans for a memorial service are expected to be announced soon, as the school and community come together to celebrate the life and legacy of a woman who gave so much to others.
“She made every child believe they could do great things,” one parent shared tearfully. “And she was right — because she showed them how.”
