Gone Too Soon: 28-Year-Old Durham Man, Abdul-Jalil Burnette


Durham, N.C. — It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that the Durham community mourns the loss of Abdul-Jalil Burnette, a 28-year-old man whose life was tragically cut short on Tuesday morning.
Around 9:40 a.m., officers with the Durham Police Department responded to reports of a shooting in the 1000 block of North Miami Boulevard. Upon arrival, they found Burnette suffering from a gunshot wound. Emergency crews immediately rendered aid and transported him to a nearby hospital. Despite the tireless efforts of medical personnel, Burnette was later pronounced dead.
