GREAT NECK, NY — The Great Neck community is grieving the untimely passing of Mr. Sebastian Zar (Eliyahou Moshe Ben Avraham z”l), whose life was tragically cut short in 2025. Born in 1989, Sebastian was a beloved son, brother, and friend — a man remembered for his integrity, intelligence, and deep compassion for others.
The Levaya (funeral service) for Mr. Zar will take place today at 1:30 p.m. at New Montefiore Cemetery, property 3, 4th Ave and Maimonides. Following his burial, the Zar family will sit Shiva at Shaare Shalom beginning Thursday at 5:30 p.m., followed by Mincha and Arvit services for those wishing to pay their respects.
Sebastian was the devoted son of Fariba and Mehrdad Zar, and the cherished brother of James Zar and Kimberly Bloorian (Zar). His loss is felt profoundly not only by his family but by countless others who were touched by his warmth, generosity, and dedication to helping others.
