LORMAN, Miss. — Heartbreak and shock ripple through the Alcorn State University community following a tragic shooting that occurred on Saturday evening, October 11, 2025, leaving one person dead and two others injured on the university’s Lorman campus.
Authorities have confirmed that Brekyra Fisher was among the three individuals shot during the incident. The shooting reportedly took place near a student housing area, prompting an immediate lockdown and heavy police presence as emergency responders rushed to the scene.
According to the Claiborne County Sheriff’s Office, deputies arrived shortly after 9 p.m. following reports of multiple gunshots. One victim was pronounced dead at the scene, while two others — including Fisher — were transported to a nearby hospital for urgent medical treatment. Their current conditions have not been publicly disclosed.
The identity of the deceased victim has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin. Investigators are working closely with campus police and the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation (MBI) to determine the motive behind the shooting and whether the suspect or suspects remain at large.
