ATTALA COUNTY, Mississippi — A tragic incident has left a community in mourning after 16-year-old Nina Dillon died following a stabbing that occurred during a confrontation on Lucas Street.

According to Attala County Coroner Sam Bell, the incident took place at approximately 4:15 p.m. when Dillon became involved in a physical altercation with 15-year-old Ta’khia Fletcher. During the confrontation, Dillon was stabbed.

Emergency responders rushed Dillon to Baptist Medical Center in an effort to save her life, but despite medical efforts, she was later pronounced dead.
