Webster Springs Mourns the Passing of Beloved Community Member Doyal Hansford Cogar

The close-knit community of Webster Springs is mourning the loss of Doyal Hansford Cogar, who passed away on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at Webster Memorial Hospital at the age of 68.

A lifelong resident of Webster Springs, Cogar was known for his dedication and quiet service to the community. He spent more than three decades working as a custodian for the Webster County School Board, a role through which he became a familiar and respected presence to generations of students and staff before retiring.

Family members remember him as a devoted father and grandfather who found his greatest joy in time spent with loved ones, especially his grandchildren. Outside of work, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking, and the simple pleasures of life in the outdoors.

Cogar was preceded in death by his parents, Adrian Arden and Lula Bell Cogar, as well as several siblings and his former wife, Jennifer Williams Cogar. He is survived by his children, Andrew Cogar and Rebecca Griffith, his grandchildren, his brother Scottie Cogar, and many extended family members and friends who will carry his memory forward.

Friends and loved ones will gather for visitation on March 2 at Dodd & Reed Funeral Home, where the community will come together to honor a man remembered for his steady presence, hardworking spirit, and deep love for family. His passing leaves a lasting void in the hearts of those who knew him, but his legacy of dedication and kindness will not be forgotten.
