Ruth McCullough, 72, Belove Albion Resident, Passes Away

ALBION, Mich. — The Albion community is mourning the loss of Ruth E. McCullough, 72, who passed away on February 7, 2026, at Cascades Senior Care Center in Jackson, Michigan. Born on October 27, 1953, in Hillsdale, Michigan, to Charles and Geraldine Baxter, Ruth grew up with a love for horses and a passion for life that touched all who knew her.

Ruth graduated from Mount Pleasant High School and found her lifelong love when she married Craig “Rat” McCullough on August 11, 2000, in Charlevoix, Michigan. The couple shared a life full of joy, adventure, and devotion in Albion. Known for her strong will, generous heart, and contagious laughter, Ruth brought warmth to family and friends alike, whether cheering for the University of Michigan, kayaking on the Kalamazoo River, or enjoying time at their Northern Michigan cabin.

She is survived by her husband, Craig, her father, Charles Baxter, brother Lynn (Sandy) Baxter, sister Rosie, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, Geraldine Baxter.

A celebration of Ruth’s life will be held on February 28, 2026, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Fraternal Order of Eagles, 2498 E. Michigan Ave., Albion, Michigan. In honor of her memory, friends and family are encouraged to make memorial contributions to a charity of their choice.

Ruth McCullough’s generosity, laughter, and love for life will be remembered fondly, leaving a lasting impact on everyone she touched.
