Chuck Potthast, known to millions of viewers for his role on TLC’s 90 Day Fiancé as the outspoken father of Elizabeth Castravet, has died at the age of 64 following a tragic accident in his home, according to newly released medical findings.

The Hillsborough County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed that Potthast passed away on Nov. 9, 2025, from blunt force injuries sustained during a fall in his bathtub. The report detailed severe trauma to his face and neck, including deep facial lacerations and a fractured C6 vertebra. Positional asphyxia was also identified as a contributing factor in his death.

Medical officials further noted underlying health conditions and circumstances that worsened the incident, including chronic alcohol use, liver cirrhosis, and acute alcohol intoxication, indicating he had consumed a significant amount of alcohol before the fall.

The findings correct earlier reports that had mistakenly attributed his death to glioblastoma, an aggressive brain cancer. While Potthast had faced serious medical challenges in the past — including bladder cancer and recent hernia surgery — authorities confirmed the fatal injuries from the fall were the immediate cause.

His daughter, Elizabeth, shared the heartbreaking news with fans on social media, writing that the family was “completely shattered” by the sudden loss.
