Community Mourns Kirk Schleicher Dies Suddenly at 35

Baileys Harbor, WI — The Door County community is heartbroken following the sudden passing of Kirk J. Schleicher, 35, of Baileys Harbor, on November 27, 2025. Known for his boundless energy, devotion to family, and commitment to his community, Kirk leaves behind an extraordinary legacy of love, faith, and compassion that touched everyone who knew him.

Born on August 7, 1990, in Green Bay to Bill and Jean Schleicher, Kirk grew up in the close-knit communities of Zion Lutheran School and Sevastopol High School. He married his beloved wife, Kayla Anschutz, on January 20, 2018, and together they shared two young children, Jordan (Jordy) and Aurora (Rory), who were the center of his world.

Kirk was completing his final year as a Plumbing Apprentice at NWTC and was on track to become a Master Plumber at Anschutz Plumbing & Heating. Beyond his professional pursuits, he was a hands-on father, a devoted husband, and an engaged member of the Door County community. Friends and family remember him spending summer lake days with his children, coaching little league baseball, singing and dancing in the kitchen, and sharing his infectious laughter with everyone around him.

His warmth extended far beyond his immediate family. Kirk was a loyal friend, a mentor to many, and a beloved member of multiple communities, including the Peninsula Gun Club and the local music scene. His generosity, good humor, and ability to connect with people of all ages made him a beloved figure across Door County.

Kirk is survived by his wife Kayla, children Jordy and Rory, his parents Bill and Jean, sisters Kendell and Kelsey, nieces and nephews, and a large extended family that includes his in-laws, the Anschutz family, and countless friends who considered him family.

Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 7, 2025, at Huehns Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay, and will continue Monday, December 8, at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in West Jacksonport, beginning at 11:00 a.m. The funeral service will follow at 1:30 p.m., with burial at the church cemetery.

The family has expressed deep gratitude to the emergency responders and staff at Door County Medical Center, as well as the Gibraltar School community and the greater Door County residents who have offered unwavering support during this difficult time.

Kirk Schleicher’s life was a testament to love, joy, and service. Though his time was far too short, his memory will endure in the hearts of all who knew him, and his legacy of compassion, humor, and dedication will never be forgotten.
