The Los Angeles Dodgers community, along with baseball fans across the country, is mourning an immeasurable loss. Sterling Sol Vesia, the infant daughter of Dodgers pitcher Alex Vesia and his wife, Kayla, passed away on Sunday, October 26th. She was deeply loved, cherished, and held close every moment of her short life.
In an emotional statement, the Vesia family shared that there are “no words to describe the pain” they are experiencing, but they carry Sterling forever in their hearts. They described their daughter as their “little angel,” whose presence and spirit brought joy, love, and meaning beyond measure.
The family expressed profound gratitude for the outpouring of compassion from the baseball world. The Dodgers organization, teammates, coaches, and staff stood beside them in their most difficult hours. Dodger Nation, the Toronto Blue Jays, and fans across Major League Baseball sent messages, prayers, and tributes — support the Vesias say has brought them comfort in the darkest days.
The family also extended heartfelt thanks to the doctors, nurses, and medical team at Cedars-Sinai, whose care and compassion carried them through Sterling’s final days. “Every person we came across was truly incredible,” they shared.
Sterling’s passing has touched the hearts of many far beyond baseball. Though her time on earth was brief, the love she inspired was deep and enduring.
She will be remembered not by the length of her life, but by the immeasurable love she brought into the world.
The Vesia family asks for continued privacy as they grieve, holding one another close and honoring the memory of their precious daughter:
“Our little angel, we love you forever. You’re with us always.”
