RAPID CITY, S.D. — The Rapid City community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Brandon Lee Ice, 43, who was killed in a devastating crash on Interstate 90 on October 21, 2025. The collision, which occurred just two miles west of the city, also left another driver critically injured.
According to the South Dakota Highway Patrol, Brandon was traveling westbound when his vehicle crossed the median and collided head-on with another car driven by 43-year-old Jason Emsley Nisen of Box Elder. Emergency responders arrived quickly at the scene, but despite their best efforts, Brandon was pronounced dead. Nisen was transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition.

Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash, including what may have caused the vehicle to cross the median.
As Rapid City grieves, loved ones are remembering Brandon Lee Ice not for the tragedy of his passing, but for the warmth, humor, and generosity that defined his life.
