Houston, TX – Houston police are investigating a tragic discovery late Thursday night after a man was found dead underneath the I-610 North Loop overpass in northeast Houston, authorities confirmed.
Officers from the Houston Police Department and the Houston Fire Department responded to a call at 7600 North Loop East, initially reported by Union Pacific as a brush fire. Upon arrival, responders discovered a man hanging beneath the middle of the overpass who had also suffered burns to his body. Despite emergency efforts, the individual was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Lt. Khan of HPD noted, “The call originally came through from Union Pacific reporting a brush fire. When our responders arrived, they handled the fire and, unfortunately, found the victim deceased.”
The victim, believed to be a man between 40 and 50 years old, has not yet been publicly identified. Authorities say the cause of death will be determined following an autopsy conducted by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. Investigators also indicated that suicide appears unlikely in this case.
