A tragic accident on U.S. Highway 40 in Lawrence late Friday night claimed the life of 41-year-old Michael T. Dieker of Kansas City, Missouri.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol (KHP), the fatal crash occurred around 10:30 p.m. on October 24, 2025, along the South Lawrence Trafficway (Kansas Highway 10). Preliminary reports indicate that two vehicles collided head-on, resulting in catastrophic damage and fatal injuries to Dieker.
Emergency personnel arrived quickly at the scene, but despite life-saving efforts, Dieker was pronounced dead shortly after the collision. Authorities are continuing to investigate the cause of the crash, including whether weather or road conditions may have played a role.
