Cambridge Mourns Beloved Kindergarten Teacher Mark Woodfield


Cambridge, ON — The Waterloo Region District School Board and the Cambridge community are heartbroken by the passing of Mark Woodfield, a devoted kindergarten teacher whose warmth and passion left an indelible mark on the lives of countless children and their families. Mark passed away peacefully, leaving behind a powerful legacy of compassion, creativity, and dedication to early childhood education.
A proud graduate of Glenview Park Secondary School, Mark continued his academic journey at Brock University, earning degrees in Child and Youth Studies and Education. His deep knowledge of child development, combined with his nurturing spirit, made him not only a treasured teacher but also a trusted mentor among his colleagues.
Throughout his career with WRDSB, Mark’s classroom was a place filled with joy, patience, and discovery—a safe space where young learners were encouraged to express themselves, explore their curiosities, and grow with confidence. He firmly believed in the power of play, the importance of empathy, and the unique value of every child’s voice.
