WEST ISLIP, NY — The community of West Islip is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Steven Battista, a beloved Dowling College alumnus and dedicated Verizon employee, whose passing earlier this week has left family, friends, and colleagues in deep sorrow.
Steven was known throughout his community for his kindness, sincerity, and unwavering integrity. His strong work ethic and warm personality earned him the respect and admiration of all who crossed his path. Beyond his professional life, Steven’s greatest joy came from the relationships he built — with his family, friends, and the many people who were touched by his generosity and compassion.
To honor his life and legacy, visitation services will be held at Claude R. Boyd–Spencer Funeral Home from October 11 to October 12, followed by a funeral mass at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church on October 13. These gatherings will offer an opportunity for loved ones to come together, share memories, and celebrate a life lived with purpose and grace.
As West Islip grieves this tremendous loss, Steven will be remembered not only for his achievements but for the kindness he showed in every interaction. His legacy of integrity, compassion, and love will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him.
Rest in Peace, Steven Battista.
Your light will forever shine in the hearts of those you leave behind.
