Tragic Loss on I-95: 21-Year-Old Zane P. Jackson Killed in Caroline County Crash

Caroline County, VA — A devastating multi-vehicle collision on Interstate 95 Sunday night has claimed the life of 21-year-old Zane P. Jackson, leaving the Caroline County community heartbroken.

According to Virginia State Police, the crash occurred around 8:30 p.m. on October 5, 2025, near the 110-mile marker. Investigators report that a 2010 Chevrolet sedan and a 2017 Ford sedan were initially involved in a collision, disabling both vehicles in the southbound lanes. Moments later, a 2018 Freightliner tractor-trailer traveling southbound was unable to stop in time and struck the Chevrolet from behind.

The driver of the Chevrolet, identified as Zane P. Jackson, sustained critical injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he tragically succumbed to his injuries. Two teenage passengers in Jackson’s vehicle were also transported to the hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the Freightliner and the Ford sedan were not injured. Authorities confirmed that all individuals involved in the crash were wearing seatbelts at the time of the collision.

Southbound lanes of I-95 were shut down for several hours as Virginia State Police Crash Reconstruction Teams examined the scene and cleared debris. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to determine the precise sequence of events that led to the deadly crash.
