Massive Fire Erupts in Austin, Multiple Structures Engulfed

AUSTIN, Texas — Emergency crews are battling a large, multi-structure fire that broke out late this afternoon near East 30th Street and Cole Street, sending thick plumes of smoke into the sky and forcing evacuations in the area.

The blaze, which quickly spread through several connected buildings, has heavily damaged Motel 9 University/Downtown as well as a nearby restaurant. Witnesses described seeing flames shoot high into the air as fire units rushed to the scene.
