IRON MOUNTAIN, Mich. — The Iron Mountain community is mourning the loss of Ernest “Buck” Hisel, who passed away peacefully in his sleep, surrounded by family. He was remembered as a devoted father, a man of resilience, and a source of quiet strength to all who knew him.

Ernest fought courageously against stage 4 Adenocarcinoma, enduring countless treatments and hospital visits while maintaining his independence and optimism. Despite the difficult road, he continued to show unwavering determination and positivity.

Family and friends recall Ernest’s love of fishing, especially the summers he spent on the water with his children—moments that remain etched in their hearts as treasured memories. His devotion to family, along with the warmth and perseverance he carried through life, will forever be his lasting legacy.
