ALTOONA, Pa. — The Altoona community is grieving the heartbreaking loss of Ja-Quin Donshay “Buckz” Forbes, who entered into eternal rest at his home on Tuesday, September 30, 2025. He was 34 years old.
Born in Queens, New York, on August 28, 1991, Ja-Quin was the beloved son of Suzanne Miller and John J. Forbes, Jr. He leaves behind a legacy of love through his children: Jy’Cere C. Forbes, with his mother Cheryl “Megan” Hartman; and Jah’mari M. Forbes, Ja’mias J. Forbes, Journee A. Forbes, and Ja’aliyah R. Forbes, with their mother Angelica M. Ruscio, all of Altoona.
In addition to his children and parents, Ja-Quin is survived by his many siblings—Latoya L. Forbes, Tonya N. Rolley, John J. Forbes III, Janei S. Forbes, Jonisha N. Forbes, Tiffany S. Forbes, Jahiem Forbes, Jaliek Forbes, and Jayon Forbes—as well as his paternal grandmother, Elmeria Forbes; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles who loved him deeply.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Fannie Mae “Nana” Miller and Alexander “Pop” Miller, and his paternal grandfather, John J. Forbes, Sr.
Known to many by his rap artist name, Buckz Sinatra or Slimetoven, Ja-Quin was a gifted musician and performer with a natural artistic ability. His passion for music and creativity touched countless lives, and his artistry remains a lasting part of his legacy.
Friends and family will gather to honor Ja-Quin on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at the Axe & Santella Family Chapel, 1534 4th Street, Altoona, PA. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and again from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 5 p.m. with Pastor Matthew Burns officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to assist with funeral services in Ja-Quin’s name through Santella Funeral Home, 1106-8th Ave., Altoona, PA 16602, or via the Treasured Memories Funding platform.
Ja-Quin Donshay “Buckz” Forbes will be remembered as a devoted father, a loving son and brother, and a talented artist whose life ended far too soon. His memory will live on through the music he created and the love he shared with all who knew him.
