Deadly Shooting at Nashua Country Club Leaves One Dead, Two Injured; Suspect in Custody

NASHUA, N.H. — A quiet Saturday afternoon at the Sky Meadow Country Club turned tragic when gunfire shattered the calm, leaving one man dead and two others wounded in what officials are calling a “senseless act of violence.”

Authorities confirmed the arrest of 23-year-old Hunter Nadeau in connection with the shooting, which claimed the life of 59-year-old Robert Steven DeCesare. According to investigators, Nadeau allegedly opened fire with a handgun, striking DeCesare fatally and injuring two other adults who were rushed to local hospitals. Their names and conditions have not yet been released.

The New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office announced that Nadeau faces a charge of second-degree murder, with additional charges expected as the investigation continues. He is scheduled to be arraigned in the Ninth Circuit Court in Nashua on Monday, September 22.

Attorney General John M. Formella called the shooting “a senseless act of violence that has taken the life of one individual and left others injured,” offering condolences to the DeCesare family and pledging to pursue justice. Nashua Police Chief Kevin Rourke commended the swift response of first responders who worked to secure the scene and aid victims.

Officials have not disclosed a motive and said there appears to be no known connection between the suspect and the victims. Investigators are working to determine what led up to the violent outburst.

The upscale country club, typically known for its serene setting, has since become the site of mourning. Community members have left flowers and handwritten notes near the entrance in honor of DeCesare, while prayers continue for the injured survivors.

The investigation remains active, with authorities urging patience as they work to uncover more details in the days ahead.
